Gold Hog - Gold Maps by State

A LOT of people want to find recorded gold maps. Often this will show people where mining was done in the past, and if the mine was a "producer" and what it produced.

The BEST and I repeat BEST way to do this is by using Google Maps and a file called a KMZ file. It creates an OVERLAY layer showing recorded mines.
Once you get to this point you can click on each mine and see what it produced and the actual coordinates. (Not perfect, but fairly reliable on older mines.)

Here is how to do this....

Step #1
Go to Google Maps.
http://maps.google.com

Once there on the upper right corner you can change the view.
Your options are MAP, SATELLITE , or EARTH
If you click EARTH it will ask you to download if you don't have it.
Do the download.
