List of goals and problems to solve....
"Gold is expensive because it's hard to
find, you have to move a BUNCH of dirt. Remove the things that slow you down,
while increasing / maintaining recovery rates, and you'll find more gold.
It's a simple formula." Doc.
A large / high production unit capable of of taking ANY level of
feed rates via human feeding. (Non-mechanical) The operator can feed one
5 gallon bucket per 10 seconds. Based on a bucket weighing 50 pounds,
that is 9 TONS of material an hour or 18,000 pounds. (Warning: we
suggest you don't try this level due to health concerns. This machine is
also nicknamed the "widow maker".) Commercial ops can build a
feeding tray for a small excavator or front loader. (Note: Most people, regular prospectors, simply
shovel feed the unit at a fast rate. It's just nice to know you don't
have to slow down.)
Make the header box a "no touch / worry free" box. Nothing
slows you down more than having to constantly reach in the header box
and clear rocks out. This unit runs free and clear 98% of the time.
No classifying....... NONE. Pour rocks and boulders into the box.
Rocks up to 8" have been fed into the box without any issues. However,
we don't recommend you dump BOULDERS in. After all, everything can
break, even metal.
Quickly turn "dirt" / material into a fluidized slurry and wash
rocks at a reasonable level without the use of a trommel. The new
"destruction chamber" pulverizes dirt as it's poured in. This washes
rocks and turns every bit of dirt into a rich and smooth slurry to be
worked by the sluice. It's an amazing site to watch.
Solve the WATER PUMP issue. Often your water pump is a big
part of the your investment. Doc chose a cheap 2" semi trash pump. It
can be ordered through several retail outlets and runs about $250. It
includes many of the accessories needed as well. See it here:

Create a variety of capture zones, surfaces, and holding areas. This
is done using ALL 4 of our matting surfaces in different configurations.
Your slurry / gold is exposed to MANY different opportunities of
capture. If it doesn't like one zone, it will get caught on the next.
While it is BIG... make it portable. Each of the Monster Hog's
sections is slightly larger than the next. This means that the header box
will "nest" into the lower tray. That tray into the next, etc. This
allows the unit to become a VERY portable unit. The entire system,
including the pump, will fit into a passenger car trunk. (Not just a
truck bed.) This also allows the unit to be SHIPPED ahead if traveling
to a remote location. (IE: Alaska via USPS.) The unit can be set up in
about 30 minutes. Often quicker once you practice.
Easy clean up. Loosen two screws and remove the holding bar. Slide
mat down and roll up. Put mat in tub of water. Reverse roll the mat and
rinse. Reverse roll the other way, rinse. Re-install the mat. A 10
minute cleanup. Start running again.
Dredge conversion. One of the only units that can take a 4" dredge
set up. While we currently do not offer any of these adaptations /
parts, they can be acquired from many retailers.
Extensive Testing...
For months Doc has tested and tested and tested this unit. He has revised
the design more than 35 times with improvements. Some of the final tests
were done within heavy clay laden areas.
On one of the final runs....more than 40,000 pieces of gold were added to
one ton of dirt. (Most was in the -50 to -100 range) This was run in about
25 minutes. 100% of the tailings were collected. Screened to 1/8" and run
through the Gold Cube. In all.... both by weight and piece count, the unit
performed over 99%.
